Why the beads are magnets

The five beads in the head are neodymium — the same dense rare-earth magnets you find in precision hardware. Two practical reasons. First, weight and hardness: a dense bead keeps its shape under pressure and transmits a firm, even push into the tissue, instead of skating across the surface. Second, the magnetic seat: the beads are held in their sockets by magnetism, which lets them spin freely in every direction and closes the gel channel when you are not using it.

The five contact points are spaced along the pressure lines of classic Japanese shiatsu, which is where this layout comes from. That is a design and tradition reference, not a medical mechanism — the tension release you feel comes from the massage itself, not from the magnets.

Let's be straight about the magnets. Static magnets are a well-established idea in wellness, but published human data do not support the claim that they increase blood flow or circulation on their own — a 2025 review of 23 human and animal studies reaches exactly that conclusion.[1] We use them as a mechanical part of the applicator. The circulation and tension effects discussed on this page come from the massage and the topical formula.

Shiatsu pressure lines, borrowed as a design language

Japanese shiatsu and acupressure traditions map the body into lines and points that practitioners work with their thumbs. The five-bead layout takes that spacing so the head covers a band of tissue rather than a single point, as you move along a muscle.

This is an aesthetic and traditional reference, not a mechanism of action. Nothing on this page claims that pressing specific points treats a condition — the point is simply that a spaced, multi-point head spreads pressure more evenly than a single finger.

A meta-analysis of 99 studies comparing post-exercise recovery techniques ranked massage as the single most effective method for reducing delayed-onset muscle soreness and perceived fatigue.[2] A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized trials found significantly lower soreness scores at 24, 48, and 72 hours compared with no intervention.[3]

Massage for flexibility and performance Moderate — small effects

A 2020 review of 29 trials and 1,012 participants is more reserved: no performance benefit, but small, statistically significant improvements in flexibility and soreness.[4]

Human laser-Doppler and laser-speckle studies show dose-dependent increases in cutaneous blood flow via TRPM8 receptors, detectable in about 30 minutes.[5] This is skin microcirculation — not deep tissue, and not a therapeutic claim.

Static magnets and increased circulation Not supported

A 2025 review of 23 human and animal studies concludes that the data do not support increased blood flow from static magnetic fields.[1] That is why the magnets are presented here as a mechanical part of the applicator, nothing more.

Why publish the weak findings too. If a page only shows what helps the sale, there is no way to judge the rest. Kinzeno does not replace a therapist, and it has not itself been through clinical trials. What it does is remove the two reasons people skip self-massage: the effort and the reach.

The routine

A 60-second pass, area by area

Pick an area to see the motion, the timing, and the mistake people make most often.

Neck and shoulders

Start at the base of the skull and work outward along the top of the shoulder, following the muscle rather than the bone. Three passes on each side, light pressure.

Most common mistake: pressing on the spine itself. Stay on the soft tissue on either side.

Upper back

Reach the arm over the shoulder and roll along the inner edge of the shoulder blade, then toward the arm. Switch hands and repeat on the other side.

Let the 360° head turn — no need to keep the bottle upright.

Lower back

Reach behind with a relaxed arm and roll in short horizontal bands from the waist upward, one side at a time. This is the area almost nobody can reach with a cream.

Stay upright rather than bending — contact and reach are better.

Thighs and glutes

Sit and work up from just above the knee toward the hip in long passes, then across the outer thigh. Larger muscles can take firmer pressure.

Long, slow passes beat a quick rub. Aim for roughly one pass per second.

Calves and shins

Always work upward, from the ankle toward the back of the knee, then down the front of the shin with lighter pressure. Ideal after a day on your feet or a long flight.

Avoid the back of the knee itself and any visible varicose veins.

Feet and arches

Cross one ankle over the opposite knee and roll along the arch, heel to forefoot, then across the top. Finish by sitting a minute while it absorbs.
